beginning jewelry casting

Explore the technique of lost wax jewelry casting. Create models in wax, then, using the vacuum casting method, turn them into pieces of metal jewelry or tiny sculpture. Lots of individual attention.21 hours of instruction. Fee includes basic starter materials (except silver).

Take your enameling one step further with the art of cloisonné. Using silver wire on copper, you will create small compartments (cloisons in French) to separate the different enamels, thus creating unique, intricate, and colorful patterns.6 hours of instruction. Bring in your ideas or an in-progress piece and work through technical and design solutions with the help of an instructor. Instruction will be individual and in-depth, with the added opportunity of learning from others’ projects. Basic knowledge of sawing, filing, sanding and soldering required.12 hours of instruction.

Make a simple silver ring quickly and efficiently, so that you can wear it home. The basics of soldering, shaping and sizing will be covered. Section 1, Jan. 6 has been canceled3 hours of instruction. Fee includes sterling silver for one average width ring.

stone set pendant

Learn to make a bezel setting, an artful skill that can be adapted to accentuate and display a variety of stones. You will set a flat-back cabochon cut stone which can be used in your next project as a pendant, brooch, or ring. The basics of sawing, soldering, shaping, filing, and finishing will be covered.9 hours of instruction.
