The Craft Center hires University of Oregon students to help with our daily operations at the reception desk; in our ceramics, wood, and glass studios; and in the office.
We post our positions on the University of Oregon Career Center's Duck Connect student jobs list when we are hiring. If the positions are not posted, we may not currently be hiring; however, you are welcome to submit an application at any time, and we will review it when we have a position that needs to be filled.

This position provides assistance to Craft Center participants, including customer service, tool checkout, workshop registration, inventory of resale supplies, and cash register use.
Qualifications: Experience in one or more art/craft areas is an essential part of this position, which may include: woodworking, ceramics, glass, graphics, fibers, photography, jewelry and metals. Must be self-motivated and have excellent customer service skills.
Ceramics Studio Assistant
Duties include cleaning facility, assisting studio participants, mixing of clay and glazes, and loading kilns.
Qualifications: Must have prior experience in ceramics. Technical experience with clay, glazes, and kiln operation preferred. Excellent customer service and safety skills required.
Glass Studio Supervisor
Assists with upkeep of the glass studio. Helping glass studio users with glass purchases and use of equipment. Assists the Glass Studio Technician with operating furnaces, maintaining equipment and cleaning the studio. Learning Outcomes for Student: Student will expand their glassworking knowledge, with increased awareness of tools/equipment and their proper and safe use. Will develop supervisory skills and have opportunities for increased responsibility with proven growth.
Qualifications: Must have experience in glassblowing and/or flameworking, excellent customer service skills, and be extremely safety conscious.
Supervise users of the Craft Center woodshop, with an emphasis on safety. May instruct patrons in proper and safe use of tools. Provides informal help with individual projects. Other duties include cleaning, organizing, changing blades and general shop maintenence. Learning Outcomes for Student: Student will expand their woodworking knowledge, with increased awareness of tools and their proper and safe use. Will develop supervisory skills and have opportunities for increased responsibility with proven growth.
Qualifications: Must have extensive experience with woodworking tools, excellent customer service skills, and be very safety conscious.
Work closely with the Craft Center office staff to maintain daily operations. Provide customer service, process orders, coordinate and set up for Craft Center classes. This position works closely with office and front desk staff to ensure that day-to-day workshops, orders and procedures are completed and exceed expectations. Must have strong customer service, organization and problem solving skills and a willingness to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
Qualifications: Excitement about crafting. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Fundamental familiarity with Excel and expertise with Microsoft word. Familiarity and comfort with online computer software. Ability to work diligently without supervision and to perform established weekly tasks after initial instruction.
The Craft Center hires qualified instructors to teach workshops in each of our craft studio areas. Please see current workshop listings for an idea of what we offer. Instructors typically teach one or two workshops per academic term. Workshops range from a single 3 hour session to a six-week (18 hour) course. We give preference to applied professional experience, but we will fill instructor positions as needed based on education and skills.
