In this tongs-on workshop, you will learn how to interact with fire to achieve stunning glaze colors only possible with Raku firing. Raku glazes range from unique iridescent metallic to ancient-seeming white or golden crackle effects. During the first session you will learn about the properties and techniques of raku glazing. In the second class you will participate in the firing of your work. Please bring up to four of your previously bisqued ceramics pieces to the first class. Be ready to see some flames! Learn how to dye yarn and wool with food coloring and Kool Aid. You'll learn how to dye a skein a solid color, variegated coloring and stripes. Students may bring light colored, 100% wool skeins of yarn or finished knitted or crocheted projects that were made from wool. This type of dyeing cannot be done on cotton or acrylic.
