Add a splash of originality to your cupboards by building your own ceramic mugs, tumblers, small bowls or plates while getting acquainted with the ceramics studio. This workshop is 100% free and is available to current UO students only. Sponsored by the Student Sustainability Center.

Raku Firing

In this tongs-on workshop, you will learn how to interact with fire to achieve stunning glaze colors only possible with Raku firing. Raku glazes range from unique iridescent metallic to ancient-seeming white or golden crackle effects. During the first session you will learn about the properties and techniques of raku glazing. In the second class you will participate in the firing of your work. Please bring up to four of your previously bisqued ceramics pieces to the first class. Be ready to see some flames! Wear natural fiber clothing.

Expand your skills on the pottery wheel. This workshop will cover throwing and altering techniques, including sectionals, square and oval forms, faceting, pitchers and teapots, sculptural forms, and more.  Glazing and other surface treatments will also be covered.  Prior throwing experience required.
