Shibori is the Japanese art of fabric resist dyeing. Students will learn Arashi Shibori, a pole wrapping and compression technique in this class. Variances in fabric direction and compression combine to create a distinctive storm-like pattern. Several immersion dyeing methods will be explored using fiber reactive dyes.

Develop multiple samples while learning basic hand embroidery techniques without the aid of a plan or drawing. Improvisational embroidery allows participants to freely experiment with multiple stitching techniques while also considering color, texture, and pattern.

Kool Aid Dyed Yarn

Learn how to dye yarn and wool with food coloring and Kool Aid. You'll learn how to dye a skein a solid color, variegated coloring and stripes. Students may bring light colored, 100% wool skeins of yarn or finished knitted or crocheted projects that were made from wool. This type of dyeing cannot be done on cotton or acrylic.
