Shibori is the Japanese art of fabric resist dyeing. Students will learn Arashi Shibori, a pole wrapping and compression technique in this class. Variances in fabric direction and compression combine to create a distinctive storm-like pattern. Several immersion dyeing methods will be explored using fiber reactive dyes.

Chinese paper-cutting originated from ancient activities of worshipping ancestors and gods, and is a traditional part of Chinese culture. They liven up walls, windows, doors, columns, mirrors, lamps and lanterns in homes and are also used on presents or are given as gifts themselves. Paper-cutting was and is mostly used as a decoration, or an aesthetic way to express people’s hopes, gratitude and other emotions. Join us to learn the basics of this ancient art form. Presented in conjunction with the Confucius Institute.
Get clean, feel soft, and smell good. Participants will make soap customized to their scent-sibilities, then adapt this information to cover lotions and lip-balms. This is a hands-on workshop full of good, clean fun. Fee includes all materials.
