Dig your hands into clay, work some throwing magic at the wheel, construct forms with hand building methods or dive into more detail-oriented sculpture. The Ceramics studio provides all the tools you need to create functional and sculptural art. Whether you’re a complete beginner or you have years of experience, workshop instructors can help develop and guide your personal techniques.

End of Term Reminders
Studio cleanup begins on Wednesday, June 12th. Reminder: Clay and greenware on shelves, even if labeled, will NOT be saved for next term. It will be recycled.

Summer Studio Orientations
Orientations will be open for registration on Monday, July 1st at 10am. 


Orientation Registration - Full for Spring Term.  

Registration for Summer Term will begin on July 1st at 10am.

Studio Orientation is required for all new studio users not registered for a workshop to become acquainted with studio policies and space usage. Users must have prior experience to take this orientation. Prior experience is defined as workshop or class experience within the past 2 years and a full understanding of the studio processes from beginning to end.

Achieve the ultimate goal in pottery and create a teapot. Participants will learn and combine intermediate pottery skills including collaring, handles, lid making, and how to make a teapot aesthetically pleasing and functional.

Each session will feature a different approach for making a creature or animal sculpture from clay and address the basics in hand building. Clay as a Canvas: Greenware (Surface Design and Glazing)

This workshop will go over several techniques for decorating and embellishing your pottery when in the leatherhard state. Intended for those with some clay experience but open to those with no pottery experience. The greenware session will cover several different techniques for decorating clay using colored slips, texture tools, wax, and carving. Demonstrations and student projects will be on greenware tiles provided by the instructor.
