There is a growing movement to challenge the notion of woodworking as a male-centered craft. Initiatives aimed at promoting inclusivity and diversity in woodworking, such as workshops and classes catering to women, non-binary, and queer individuals, are helping to break down these barriers. These efforts are not only making woodworking more accessible to a wider range of people but are also challenging traditional gender norms and stereotypes associated with the craft. In this workshop we will center femme, non-binary, transgender, and queer perspectives through conversation and social/emotional exploration, and offer a safe space for community and creativity. We'll cover the basics of woodshop tools and techniques to make a keepsake box from the beginning (picking wood) to the end (finishing and sharing your work).

Please plan to purchase additional materials for your project. This workshop qualifies as a full studio orientation. No experience necessary. This workshop includes all listed dates and times. Please plan to attend all meetings. For information on registration and refund policies, please review the FAQ page.
