Set your digital camera aside for a while and step back into traditional black and white photography. Manual camera operation, film exposure and development, and basic printing techniques will all be covered. Through demonstrations and supervised darkroom time, you will have the opportunity to learn the basic skills of black and white photography including visual elements like composition. Bring an empty 35 mm camera. Manual settings are strongly recommended but not required. No meeting April 17th.

In this tongs-on workshop, you will learn how to interact with fire to achieve stunning glaze colors only possible with Raku firing. Raku glazes range from unique iridescent metallic to ancient-seeming white or golden crackle effects. During the first session you will learn about the properties and techniques of raku glazing. In the second class you will participate in the firing of your work. Please bring up to four of your previously bisqued ceramics pieces to the first class. Be ready to see some flames! Wear natural fiber clothing.
