Drawing with colored pencils is a fun and versatile medium. Come learn how to achieve beautiful results by applying some fundamental techniques. You will learn how to mix colors, layer colors, and to use underpainting to achieve dimensionality. You will learn about color relationships, while practicing your drawing skills. The skills from this class can be applied to many different types of drawing including botanical illustration.

We will cover a wide scope including: contour, gesture, and modeled drawing as well as the use of light and dark; using photographs, grids, and projected images to morph drawings.

In this tongs-on workshop, you will learn how to interact with fire to achieve stunning glaze colors only possible with Raku firing. Raku glazes range from unique iridescent metallic to ancient-seeming white or golden crackle effects. During the first session you will learn about the properties and techniques of raku glazing and fire one or two test pieces. In the second class you will participate in the firing of your work. Please bring up to four of your previously bisqued ceramics pieces to the first class. Be ready to see some flames! Wear natural fiber clothing.
