Woodworking

Take the time to create the project of your dreams, or just start learning the tools of the trade. At the Woodworking Studio you can make ultra-utilitarian art like a beautiful chair, or you can try carving intricate figurines. Our woodshop supervisor will help you feel comfortable and safe taking on any project. If you don’t already have experience with woodworking our workshops are the perfect opportunity to learn your way around the studio.

Learn woodworking hand tool and power tool use and safety. Instruction includes basic wood properties, project staging, tool use, and an overview of finishing techniques. 

Due to limited capacity, this in-person workshop is being made available for current UO students only.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Craft Center is committed to safety for all workshop participants. Studios and equipment will be cleaned and disinfected before and after workshop sessions. Studio users are expected to follow all standard Craft Center studio use guidelines. In addition, studio users are required to wear a mask covering nose and mouth while in the Craft Center facilities. All studio and tool use procedures are tailored for safety of both studio users and staff, and users will be asked to follow posted and verbal instructions to ensure a clean, comfortable studio environment. Detailed information about your workshop registration will be sent to you in a confirmation email from a Craft Center staff member before your workshop time.
