Greenland Kayak Paddle

A collaboration with the EMU Outdoor Program! Make your own wooden kayak paddle, based off of traditional designs used by the first kayakers, native peoples of the Arctic.  The "Greenland Paddle" is a beautiful design, and extremely functional for the recreational paddler.  These are also the paddle of choice for expert paddlers, and those wishing to sneak up on walrus during the hunt!  Hand tools and power tools will be used in this class. No experience necessary.

Kalimba is a bantu word meaning “little music” and is also known as a thumb piano. It is a keyed and tuned percussion instrument that makes a great introduction to woodworking. These beautiful instruments will be crafted from the woods of your choice and spring-steel keys. Power and hand tool use and safety will be covered.
