The Carving class will focus on the basic elements of woodworking: you, a carving tool, a block of fine grained wood and your imagination.  Following the nautical tradition of carving,  all students will carve a whale of their design.  The instructor will provide ten possible designs to get you started and you will be encouraged to use your creativity as you create your masterpiece.  A variety of tools will be used, including carving tools, rasps, files and saws.
